The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has opened its third application window to award at least $1 billion in Emergency Connectivity Fund support to help “close the homework gap.” The application period is open until May 13, 2022 and eligible schools and libraries can submit requests for funding to purchase eligible equipment and services between July 1, 2022 and December 31, 2023. This is expected to be the last opportunity for funding under this program as the $7.17 billion originally allocated to this program will be exhausted. Funding can be used to purchase laptops and tablets, WiFi hotspots, modems, routers, and broadband connections to serve unmet needs for off-premises by students, school staff, and library patrons.  Information on how to apply is available here.
