School buses, like all other vehicle types, have become increasingly complex. Electronics and other advances in technology have changed the way school buses are inspected, diagnosed, and maintained. Training, diagnostic equipment, web-based service manuals and bulletins, and other resources are available to fleet managers and technicians to stay ahead of this curve.
In 2011, South Carolina coordinated a survey of state directors to gather data on school bus inspection regulations and procedures among the states. A summary of the results was compiled by state director Donald Tudor. South Carolina also provided detailed responses to the survey from the 37 states that participated.
