We are excited to announce that the 2021 NASDPTS Annual Conference will be at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Pentagon City, just outside of Washington, DC, November 5 - 9, 2021.

Hosting the conference at the nation’s Capital allows us to meet in-person with our federal partners, many of whom remain under COVID-19 out-of-town travel restrictions. Agencies invited to present include the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the U.S. Education Department (USDOE), among others.

The conference will also feature technology updates from our industry suppliers, to include electric buses and best practices training by other presenters.   Conference workshop topics will focus on addressing the driver shortage, entry-level driver training (ELDT), COVID-19 lessons learned, managing mental health and many others.

As of July 15, 2021 - All restrictions and event requirements listed below are subject to change as the event date approaches and updated (Virginia) State guidance is released.

We are taking safety measures seriously and prioritizing YOUR well-being, safety, and comfort.

  • Conference in-person registration will be limited to 250 conference participants (i.e., attendees, exhibitors, speakers, volunteers, and staff) to allow for social distancing in the General Session and social events.
  • Meeting rooms will include social-distanced seating
  • Social distancing, traffic flow, hand-sanitizer, and other safety guidance signage will be in place throughout the event
  • Providing a safer environment for our guests and associates is a top priority. Consistent with the most recent CDC guidance, fully vaccinated guests are no longer required to wear face coverings or social distance in indoor or outdoor areas of the hotel, unless required by local law. We ask that unvaccinated guests continue to wear face coverings and practice social distancing when they are in public spaces inside the hotel.
  • While each of the following items will be provided during the Conference, attendees are allowed to bring their own note paper, pens, hand sanitizer and snacks.
  • Attendees will be able to visually identify their comfort level with designations of Red for No Contact - No exceptions, Yellow for minimal contact, Elbows Only-Still Cautious, and Green for High-Fives & Handshakes

Per VA Guidelines:

  • Fully vaccinated individuals are no longer required to wear face coverings or social distance in indoor and outdoor areas, unless required by local law. Individuals are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their 2nd dose in a 2-dose series (Pfizer or Moderna vaccines), or after a single-does vaccine (Johnson & Johnson's Janssen vaccine). However, vaccinated individuals may wear a mask if they prefer.
  • The CDC guidance states that fully vaccinated individuals do not have to wear masks in most settings. Settings where vaccinated people must still wear masks under the current guidance include planes, buses, trains (including the METRO) and other forms of public transportation, transportation hubs such as airports and stations, and medical and congregate settings.
  • Unvaccinated guests must still wear face coverings and practice social distancing when they are in indoor public spaces. The U.S. government’s leading medical expert has acknowledged that the CDC’s new guidance will rely on the honor system, with everyone having a mutual commitment to the health of our communities.
  • Meeting space will be set up to comfortably allow for appropriate social distancing between all participants.
  • Use hand sanitizer when soap and water is not available. Hand-sanitizer will be readily available.
  • Avoid touching your face, specifically your eyes, nose, and mouth, as this is how germs enter your body. Cough into your elbow, NOT your hand.
  • Stay home if you’re feeling sick.
